Crisis in Sudan: Never Again, Again?
In August 2004 the Global Nomads Group team undertook an amazing journey to Chad to learn firsthand about the lives of the Sudanese refugees who have fled their country as a result of the current conflict in Darfur. After a grueling trip through rough roads and flooded river beds, the team arrived at the Breidjing Refugee Camp, located along the Chad/Sudan border. Conditions there are extremely harsh, with refugees braving 100-plus degree
heat Given the remoteness, very few people (and aid) have been able to access the camp. On Friday 27th August, GNG broadcast live from the Breidjing camp, linking schools across the US with th refugees. During the conference, students from Notre Dame Academy in Los Angeles, CA, Bear Branch Junior High in Magnolia, TX, and Wydown Middle School in St. Louis, MI asked questions of both the refugees themselves and an International Committee of the Red Cross worker, discussing the current situation and ways in which they could help.
