What's Global Nomads Group?
Global Nomads Group (GNG) is an educational non-profit organization with the
mission of fostering dialogue and understanding among the world's youth. The
organization was founded in 1998. Never heard of GNG before? Learn more about

What's Rwanda Alive?
Rwanda Alive was a videoconferencing educational program that enabled
students from all over the United States and the world to learn about Rwanda
directly from the source (i.e. the people that actually live there!).
For more than a month, a GNG team traveled across this amazing country, setting
up live broadcasts from remote locations and posting updates on this site in
the form of video clips and diary entries.
The adventure began in April, 2004.
Why Rwanda?
Rwanda is a mysterious place. Long known for its beautiful landscapes and its
mountain gorillas, the country was ravaged by a genocide in 1994 that wiped
out a tenth of its entire population. That was only ten years ago, half a century
after the holocaust...
We felt is was important to shed a light on this chapter of history, but also
to look beyond the genocide and help students discover Rwanda in a way they
could never do through textbooks.
From its people, to its history, to its wildlife...Rwanda will truly amaze
you!

How much did the broadcasts cost?
Each videoconference series (there are 8 in total) cost $170 per school. That
included videoconferencing bridge fees.
170 dollars! But I thought you said you were a non profit?
We are! But programs like Rwanda Alive are expensive to produce. We
always do our best to make our programs as affordable to schools as possible.
