Rwanda Alive - Take Action!

TAKE ACTION!

There are many things you and your school can do to help Rwanda…

1) Help Rwanda’s Ba’Twa people acquire land rights

Placing political pressure on key representatives of governments is one way of making the changes you wish to see in the world. Send letters to Paul Kagame, president of Rwanda, the US Ambassador to Rwanda, Margaret McMillion, and the Rwandan Ambassador to the US, Dr. Zac Nsenga. Let them know that the Ba’Twa need land.

4) Help stop the spread of HIV/AIDS in Rwanda

TAKE ACTION! BECOME INVOLVED IN THE GLOBAL FIGHT AGAINST HIV/AIDS WITH YOUTHAIDS.

DATA aims to raise awareness about the crises swamping Africa: unpayable debts, uncontrolled spread of AIDS, and unfair trade rules which keep Africans poor. The organization was founded in 2002 by Bono, lead singer of U2. DATA calls on the governments of the world’s wealthy nations—the US, Europe, Canada and Japan—to put more resources towards Africa, and to adopt policy that helps rather than hinders Africa in achieving long-term prosperity.

5) Raise money to help save Rwanda’ mountain gorillas

The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International lists many ways you can make a difference. Check it out here: http://www.gorillafund.org

6) Stay in Touch!

If your class participated in either of the Rwanda Alive broadcasts, you can sign up to the Rwanda Alive mailing list (on Yahoo!). Disclaimer: only students involved in Rwanda Alive will have their membership approved.
