Rwanda Alive Overview
In April/May of 2004, the Global Nomads Group traveled to Rwanda to produce a series of videoconferences directly from the field, bringing Rwanda and its people literally into classrooms all over the US and the world. Throughout this videoconferencing adventure, students gained knowledge of Rwanda's history, geography and culture, and discussed topics such as HIV/AIDS and environmental preservation with their peers. Highlights of Rwanda Alive included a live broadcast from the natural habitat of the rare mountain gorilla (in partnership with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund) and opportunities for students to learn directly from their Rwandan counterparts.
