Rwanda Alive

Rwanda is a country of great beauty, and of many contradictions...

It is often referred to as "the land of a thousand hills," a paradise on earth best known for its lush forests, incredible natural diversity, and of course, its mountain gorillas (made famous by the movie Gorillas in the Mist).

In 1994, however, Rwanda became known for something else: the genocide that killed 800,000 of its people in the span of only three months. In April of this year, Rwanda will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the genocide, one of the most shocking chapters of modern history.

Imagine being able to take your students on a journey that would both shed a light on this country's troubled past, and celebrate everything that makes it beautiful...

In April and May 2004, hundreds of students from all over the US did.

If you were one of them, keep in touch with your Rwandan peers by signing up to the Rwanda Alive MAILING LIST (Yahoogroups!). Note that only Rwanda Alive participants will have their memberships approved.
