To bring awareness to the important concept of Volunteering, GNG brings you our first International Pulse Program on Volunteering. Helping Humanity: Volunteers, what makes them tick? is a two-part videoconferencing series that includes lesson plans, a youth to youth discussion on volunteering and a very special remote broadcast from the heart of Africa, where youth will gain insight on volunteering by talking to 4 foreigners who left the comfort of their countries to volunteer at an orphanage in the middle of the bush. More about The Village of Children

Take a virtual tour with Mark

Your students will have the opportunity to learn about the orphanage, and to talk to a group of young volunteers who are fighting hard just to keep the orphans fed and clothed properly. What makes these volunteers tick? Find out by joining us in this once in a lifetime insight…

Tuesday, November 28: In the first part of this videoconferencing series, students discussed what experience they have in terms of volunteering and learned from each other about interesting community programs.

Read some inspirational quotes and a poem about volunteering, provided by the students at Newcomers High School.

Thursday, November 30: In this follow-up session, students will have the opportunity to speak directly with four volunteers working at a remote orphanage located in the bush outside of Maputo. You and your students will learn firsthand why these students left their homes and what it is like living in the bush, working as a volunteer. Meet the volunteers
