War in Iraq: Through Sari’s Eyes

Special Member Program: War in Iraq: Through Sari’s Eyes*
Date: Thursday, November 1, 2007*
Time: 1:00 p.m. (EST)
Grades: 9-12
Topics: Current Events, Social Studies, World Issues

More than four years after the war began between the U.S. and Iraq, violence in Baghdad and other parts of the country persists, while snatches of peace have surfaced in others.  Sari, a 20-year-old student who left Iraq two months ago, will share with American students his first hand experiences living in the capital.

GNG's 2003 videoconference series between American and Iraqi students surrounding the beginning of the war gave both groups a chance to air their misconceptions and understand one another and the turbulent political situation.  Four years later, we revisit the issue of the Iraq war and hear what it's like to live in Baghdad today.  Sari, known for his quick wit and candor in Project Voice, will re-join us from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. to talk about the war and field any questions students have.
