Program Description:
In response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti, Architecture for Humanity, the Bezos Family Foundation and Global Nomads Group (GNG) have partnered to create "Students Rebuild," a $500,000 matching challenge grant that invites students around the globe
to rebuild better, safer schools in Haiti. Join GNG as we conduct videoconference (VC) programs LIVE on the ground in Haiti into your classroom!
Interactive VCs:
Each VC is one hour long.
- Teacher PD Session - Thursday March 18- 8:00 AM or 11:30 AM EST
Teachers participating in this VC will have the opportunity to meet one another and share their expectations and goals for the program. We will be joined by Homa Tavangar, author of Growing Up Global, for this session.
- Live from the Field- Two-Part VC Series- March 22-26
- Session 1: Picking up the Pieces – Stories of Youth
On day one, students in North America will speak with their Haitian peers to hear their stories the day of the January 12 earthquake. What was life like before the quake? What are some of the most immediate challenges they now face? What did these Haitian young people think about the organizations that came to their aid? Were they effective?
- Session 2: Starting to Rebuild - Hopes for the Future
On day two, North American students will learn what hopes their Haitian peers have for their country as well as their own futures. As a result, students will create teams and participate in Students Rebuild- to help rebuild Haiti - starting with their schools.

Students will now come together to share what they learned from the VCs as well as their ideas they will use to implement Students Rebuild.
Webcasts:
Join GNG for a SPECIAL LIVE ONE-HOUR WEBCAST, Friday, March, 26th- 10 AM & 12 PM. GNG will be conducting a live program from Haiti- bringing the most up-to-date situation on the ground into your classroom! GNG will be interviewing young people, relief workers, Architecture for Humanity staff, and more! Students will have the opportunity to send in questions during the live broadcast. Afterwards, students can take action, bring friends, and together, help rebuild Haiti by rebuilding schools at StudentsRebuild.org.
