About Young PRESS

Young PRESS is an unprecedented collaboration among more than twenty-two youth and adult organizations in media, technology and education. Young PRESS is designed to provide a collaborative framework for strengthening youth media and facilitating the development of a global youth reporting network through the use of traditional and new technologies. An ongoing project scheduled for launch at the United Nations Special Session on Children, 19-21 September 2001, Young PRESS' (Young People Reporting Everything at the Special Session) mission was to channel young people's concerns to world leaders, the public and their peers through youth-created multi-media. In the aftermath of the 11 September terrorist attacks, Young PRESS cancelled its launch and focused its efforts around providing an emergency response. Young PRESS realized that the collaborative effort it fostered around the UN Special Session on Children could be mobilized to respond to the crisis.
