Attorneys from Skadden Arps Provide Services Allowing More Students to Participate in GNG

April 18, 2002 - New York - A group of attorneys at the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom LP (Skadden Arps) have agreed to provide pro bono legal assistance to Global Nomads Group (GNG) on a case-by-case basis and are advising GNG regarding several corporate matters, partnering transactions, intellectual property and Internet law matters.

As one of the largest law firms in the world, Skadden Arps is distinguished by its substantial commitment to public interest law and the pro bono involvement of its lawyers. "The commitment of the lawyers, drawn from several practice areas at the firm, to offer pro bono assistance to GNG will be helpful as we navigate and negotiate with our government, private, and non-profit sector partners. With our educational and financial goals set high, GNG needs the same brains which are available to large corporations," said GNG Director of Operations Kamal El-Wattar.

Outreach goals for 2002-2003 will increasingly bring GNG into the convergent media space, interfacing with textbook publishers, television networks, and online education providers. Many relationships will be formalized to offer consistent and multiplatform educational experiences for a growing, diverse student population.

GNG plans ambitious programs in the Middle East and China in which it hopes thousands of students will participate through video conferencing, webcasting and video. "We are grateful for Skadden's expertise in areas that are crucial to our ability to provide more youth around the world with collaborative, cross-cultural education programs," said Director of Education Relations, Jonathan Giesen.

"We are honored to have the opportunity to be of service to GNG, a dynamic organization which is quickly emerging as an important communication and educational channel through which young people around the world can voice their thoughts and opinions and open their horizons through multi-country community debates via technologically advanced and economically viable tools," said Carole Aciman, a counsel in Skadden Arps' Intellectual Property & Technology Group, whose practice focuses on domestic and cross-border Internet, e-commerce and technology transactions.
