Organization:
Established in 1998, Global Nomads Group (GNG) is an international NGO that creates interactive educational programs for students about global issues. In its 10-year history, Global Nomads Group has conducted programs in more than 40 countries and reached more than one million young people. Each year, as many as 10,000 students participate in GNG’s interactive programs, which have been recognized for their educational value and innovation with awards from the Goldman Sachs Foundation and United States Distance Learning Association. GNG’s work has been featured in media outlets that include CNN, Good Morning America, the Today Show, the New York Times and Education Week.

Summary of Position:
The Executive Director (ED) will be responsible for the leadership, management and financial health of the organization. The ED will help advance the values, mission, and strategic goals of the organization and help create and implement long and short term goals and strategies to fulfill those goals. The ED has direct responsibility for Fundraising, Marketing & Business Development, and will oversee the Program and Production teams.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Fundraising/Business Development
  • Actively develop and nurture new relationships with potential and existing funders (Foundations, Corporations, Individuals and Government Agencies).
  • Produce fundraising events to raise money from individuals and raise the profile of the organization.
  • Actively develop and maintain working relationships with leaders in the global education, conflict prevention and youth exchange community.
  • Serve as spokesperson and advocate before the media, NGO and government officials, trade and educational associations, etc. about issues related to global exchange and youth communication.
  • Develop strategies to raise exposure and profile of the organization through new channels.
Management
  • Supervise Program and support staff.
  • Manage payroll and accounting systems.
  • Ensure that the organization has adequate financial resources to achieve its long and short-term goals.
  • Maintain GNG’s current high quality programs and contribute to the development of new programs that further GNG’s mission and goals.
  • Serve as primary contact to the Board of Directors and help maximize the skills and assets of individual Board members.
  • Produce annual operating budget recommendations for Board approval.
  • Create and maintain effective financial reporting documents and systems; provide quarterly financial reports to the Board;
  • Support and guide individual Board members in their fundraising efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Passion, drive and can-do attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to raise funds (whether in non profit or for profit setting) and inspire teams to excel
  • Personal connection to organization’s mission
  • Strong strategic/financial/business planning skills
  • Experience in diversified fundraising and earned income efforts. Demonstrated experience in corporate marketing, foundations, major gifts, and donor stewardship.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • International experience
  • Advanced degree in Organizational Development, Non-Profit or Public Administration, or Business Administration a plus
Salary is commensurate with experience.
